NSF Launches $5 Million Big Data Innovation Hub Project
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded
more than $5 million to launch four regional hubs to facilitate research
and innovation through Big Data analysis. According to an NSF release,
each Big Data Regional Innovation Hub will focus on seven priority
areas,
including new technologies; natural resources; agriculture; smart and
connected communities; energy; and finance. The University of
California at San Diego, UC Berkeley, the University of Washington, the
Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of North Carolina,
Columbia University and
the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will coordinate
implementation of the hubs in their respective regions, the release
notes.
